RECORDING ARTIST JOHN DOTE' RELEASES "GOD IS KING"
Gospel music is a music genre in Christian music. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of gospel music varies according to culture and social context. Gospel music is composed and performed for many purposes, including aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, and as an entertainment product for the marketplace. This is one area in which recording artist John Dote', (who was the original drummer from the hit television series "Hawaii Five-0") has found an inner comfort zone in writing and singing his praise for the lord. He was born in 1955 in the Bronx, New York where his grandfather was a pastor at a local church. Dote' was raised on the bible but by the time he entered the music industry during his late teens, all of that changed. Or should we say the music industry changed him.
He entered into the world of drugs, booze and wild nights with the lovely women of the night living in the bay area. Turn on any pop music radio station today, and it won’t be long before you hear lyrics referencing drugs or alcohol. The taboo subject of drug use is more mainstream than ever, and it’s shocking to hear popular artists be so nonchalant about drug use in their music. While drug references in music is nothing new, it seems to be more common and obvious now than before. Is this the new normal?
But that is all behind him now. He survived the many days and late night parties that might have taken someone else's life if they could not handle all of that abuse and consumption. These days may be borrowed time for Dote' but he has wasted no time in producing and promoting for the biggest names in the music industry. As a recording artist, Dote has written, produced and arranged a string of albums including “Hard Life”, “The New Yorker”, “Rise & Fall Of Briar Rose LN.”, “Music In Motion”, “Life Of A Motion Picture”, “Knees On A Prayer” and “May I Have This Dance?”. He also produced soundtracks for artists from American Idol, America’s Got Talent and Soul Train. In 2013, Dote’ produced the drums for Robert Sweet of the 6 platinum award winning gospel heavy metal band Stryper.
